Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve 2/22/20

"Overall we had a great time at Bolsa Chica on Saturday. Some highlights included the continuing, very rare Mountain Plover, hundreds of Brant Geese, Clark's Grebe, Reddish Egret, and killer looks at a very cooperative Ridgway's Rail."

Palos Verdes Peninsula 2/16/20

From Trip Leader Graham Montgomery:

"This past Sunday, we went out to Point Vicente on the Palos Verdes peninsula. From the high cliffs overlooking the ocean, we were able to scope out distant Black-vented Shearwaters, Brandt's Cormorants, and Surf Scoters, plus amazing close looks at a perched Peregrine Falcon. Next, we went to the Alta Vicente Reserve where we found our target species: California Gnatcatcher (including one that flew right over us!), and the coastal race of Cactus Wren. Non-bird life included a gopher snake, an alligator lizard, wildflowers, and dolphins, all on a beautiful sunny morning."
